Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus)

Conservation Status: Vulnerable

Slow moving filter feeding shark. It is found in tropical warm oceans and lives in the open sea with a lifespan of about 70 to 100 years. 

Largest individual: 12.65 m, >21 metric tons

Major threats: Commerical fisheries. Their large fins are worth about 10'000$ on Chinese markets.
