Overfishing:
Within the last century, the fishing practices have changed drastically. More and more technical equipment helps finding schools of fish, and industrial fisheries use trawler, long lines, explosives and other effective fishing methods. However, on the contrary to the believes of the people over a century ago, the resources are not unlimited; fish stocks are depleted to unacceptable levels. The fishing communities rely on the harvest and so they keep on taking more and more out of the sea; not realizing that by wanting more and more, they get less and less. Fishes are getting less and smaller. About 80 % of all newborn fish are later caught for food. Fishermen fish deeper and deeper down the food web.
